Stephanie Cole - A practitioner that inspires me

After looking into some generic jobs and before ascertaining my own specialisations I opted to investigate how other artists/illustrators and designers promote and brand themselves. This will help to give me an idea as to the kind of jobs I could look into (because I can visually see how and what they have translated their works into) it will also give me insight into how they use social media to promote themselves an element highlighted in the brief and something that is very relevant in our society.

Stephanie Cole is an artist that I contacted throughout my dissertation research, but I first came across her work on Facebook. I think her work is incredibly beautiful and I love the detailed yet quirkiness of her visual style. From a job perspective she markets herself primarily as an illustrator, print designer and maker of things. She makes designs that are translated into print - so she sells her designs and they get printed on cards and badges. Cole also takes on commissioned pieces and also also set up her own website and shop as depicted below.

Social Media Promotion: Facebook

Cole uses Facebook to distribute her various designs, occasionally talking about her process or her day to day life. Essentially Facebook provides her a way to advertise and keep her work in circulation which I am guessing helps to reach new potential clients and customers.
